Anna Danesi, captain of the Italian National Volleyball Team, presented her book at Memo. “Now I’d like to be the next standard-bearer.”
On Tuesday, July 1st, at the Mediateca Montanari in Fano, an exciting meeting was held for volleyball fans to hear from volleyball player Anna Danesi. A multi-medal-winning champion, among her most recent and prestigious achievements is the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medal with the Italian national team. It’s no coincidence that the book, in which the captain of the national volleyball team tells her story, is titled “A Golden Dream.”
The book is not just an autobiography, but a story addressed to anyone “who has a dream to pursue. In any case, fun must be the priority for anyone who wants to commit to volleyball, then the rest will follow.” A book through which Anna demonstrates that there are no impossible goals for those willing to fight for what they believe in, and where passion, discipline, and courage come together.
Anna, have you achieved your golden dream with the Olympics? “Actually, my secret dream, which hasn’t yet come true, is to be a flag bearer at the Olympics, but for now,” she replies, smiling, “I can be content with what I’ve achieved.”
Why did you decide to write a book? “When they offered it to me, I accepted the challenge, even though I’m a very private and introverted person. I thought it was a way to make myself known and to raise awareness of the values behind a sport like volleyball.”
Is writing a book or taking on a sporting competition more difficult? “Writing a book: I’ve played in many matches, but I’ve only written one book.”
The preface is also written by Sammy Marcantognini, a psychologist and psychotherapist who professionally follows Anna Danesi.”I’m honored,” he comments, “to work with her and to have had the opportunity to write the preface to her book. It’s a huge satisfaction to work with an athlete like Anna, who deeply absorbs and puts into practice the advice she’s given. I’m even more proud to have been able to bring her to Fano and introduce her,” he concludes, “to the public of our city.”
At the end of the meeting, a long line of attendees formed for the book signing, with many young athletes thrilled at the prospect of meeting their idol.
